Let’s face it. Even in a tough economic downfall, there still seems to be that niche that never seems to feel the blow. Web design and development has been one of the biggest booming markets for the past 10 years. Keeping up with the functionality, look, and feel of today’s sites is tough though, so how do you stand out from the 20 other impostors of your company out there?
The first answer is simple. Get a website…an up to date website…an up to date website with some sort of aspect that attracts users. There are thousands of ways to do this. One of the most common ways is to start a blog. Start simple with something like blogger or wordpress. You’ll be surprised by how quickly you’ll attract more viewers to your site. This is a basic concept, but the results are underrated. Why? Blogs increase your ranking with search engines (google especially) which means more viewers.
Another answer is to update the technology of your site. The internet is quickly drifting from development with complex and expensive software…to open source resources. For example, right now on google, it is about 100 times easier to look up a php script, than to find a similar script written in Asp.net C#. Php is easy and free. Asp.net is not. Developers can argue about which language and software produces the best looking and fastest results, but a little google search will show you why more people are going open source.
